Roaring 20’s

Actress Louise Brooks dressed in Flapper attire (1927)

Hallooo dear Dodopadlers!  Miss Peabody here.

Those of you who are using your Dodo Pad and/ or Acad-Pad diary will notice on this week’s page the anniversary of the opening of the first birth control clinic in London, in 1921.  I can only imagine how scandalous that must have been (for some) at the time!  The 20’s were indeed a time of change.  Despite my (somewhat) advanced age, I was actually not a part of the Roaring 20’s (although sometimes I wonder if I may have been a Flapper in a previous life!).  I can just imagine the city of Chicago during the 1920’s.  Gangsters like Al Capone dodging the Feds, people visiting speakeasies to drink bathtub gin and dance the Charleston.  It must have been an absolutely spiffingly exhilarating time!

This Wednesday I hope you have a very happy St. Patrick’s Day!  And, enjoy the vernal equinox this weekend.  It will bring us twelve hours of daylight and twelve of night, and from then until the autumnal equinox in September, those of us in the northern hemisphere will enjoy more daylight hours than darkness!  How I love the light lingering long into the evening.

Don’t forget, you still have until the end of the month to get 20% off the Dodo Household Stuff book!  See the Spring Cleaning post for details.

And you still have time to submit your doodle to benefit two very important charities in the UK, and possibly win a prize for yourself!  See the National Doodle Day post for details.

How will you be celebrating St. Paddie’s Day this week?  And, do you celebrate or otherwise recognize the Equinox?  Do post a comment and tell me all about it!

Toodle-oo for now!

Miss P
