Desk delight for wilting workstations

Dodo doodlers, splendid scribblers, joyful jotters and noble note-takers behold! The Dodo Jotter has landed!

Our brand-spanking new, generously sized A3 desk pad has been lovingly designed to alleviate boredom and keep even the scattiest desk-dweller on the straight and narrow.

Dodo Pad Jotter

The dodelightful Dodo Jotter!

The Jotter has all of the charm (if we may humbly say so) of our much-loved Dodo Pad diary paired with the functionality that fans of the Dodo Pad have come to rely upon over the last *ahem* almost 50 years. With a segregated doodle area for scribbling on whilst on the phone, to a three-month planner and even special zones for biscuits and coffee, the Dodo Jotter is the perfect adornment and ideal distraction for any desk.

In the 'biscuit' zone

A perfectly sized spot for a choc chip cookie or biscuit of your choice!

It also doubles, triples and quadruples up as a saucer, hangman display board and somewhere to rest your head when it’s been ‘one of those days’. (The paper smells nice too – we tested it! 😀 )

Are you looking at your own dog-eared desk jotter right now? Do you see those crinkly corners? Well, on Lord Dodo’s Dodo Jotter, it’s the bottom edge that’s glued rather than the traditional top, saving corners from rolling up and becoming unsightly. Sorry, other jotters, it’s nothing personal.

With every crook and corner of our own Dodo Pads covered with doodles, notes, telephone messages and more, we decided the time was right to create a large Dodo Jotter to free up space to be creative and expressive as well as note any critical daily ‘To Do’s –or ‘To Do-Do’s as we say on this particular product!

There’s lots of space for thoughts, ideas, doodles and dates. As you will know, there’s little more frustrating than finding you’ve scribbled smiley faces all over the back of a very important document. Having a Dodo Jotter on the desk will alleviate such problems, and that’s why you can grab one now from our online store.

And don’t forget to keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages as there will be a chance to win one in the not too distant future and there’s even a baby-sized version on the cards – it’s a fast developing twinkle in Lord Dodo’s eye!

Happy Easter weekend!

That was the National Stationery Week that was!

Sorry we didn’t blog last week, we were on tour… No, not with Lord Dodo’s heavy metal band the Wailing Dodo’s (one for another blog, I’m sure *hemhem*), but to celebrate National Stationery Week at the London Stationery Show! Like Nelly the Elephant before him, Lord Dodo proudly packed his trunk (and we packed ours) and we transported our wares up to the big smoke to showcase the best of Dodo Pad at the Business Design Centre in London’s Islington. Though we did request from HRH Queen Elizabeth II Dodo Herethat The Royal Train be used to ferry His Lordship to the city, unfortunately the locomotive was in for a service on the 1 – 2 April and therefore we had to find an alternative mode of transport . The drive from Cornwall meant several pit stops to stretch wings and legs, but we made it to the capital in one piece and boy, was it worth the journey! From pens and sticky notes to little folding contraptions and staple-less staplers that – if it wasn’t down to the little perspex window that shows you exactly how it works, you’d surely mark down as witchcraft – the show was a feast for the senses; a true stationery lovers’ paradise. Taking place during National Stationery Week (a fantastic campaign to ‘Get Britain Writing’ – you can read more here) some of the nicest little companies – including us *blush* – showcased the latest and best products on their stands. We proudly displayed next year’s diary (it’s the one before the big 50th edition – hold on to your hats!), the new, blue and just for you Acad-Pad 2014/15 and our new Dodo Mini Blank Book along with our range of greetings cards and even our very special (and freshly hatched) Dodo Jotter! The London Stationery Show is a very special place, with the best of the best stationery on display for all to see, touch, sniff and peck at. We went, we saw, we made new friends and showed the stationery world what Dodo Pad is all about. We only wish you could have all been there to have a good laugh with us on our stand. You’ll have to save your giggles for Lord Dodo’s 50th birthday bash and bonanza, which you’re all invited to! Details to follow in due course, stay in touch with us here, on Twitter or on Facebook! Or if you’d  like to be ‘Kept Posted’ on the #DodoJubilee celebrations sign up here.

Stationery Loves

There is nothing more lovely than the smell of a new exercise book, a clean page, a sharp pencil and a pen that writes well. I always loved the first day of term when I was at school as it meant a new pencil case full of goodies and more lovely and untouched stationery.

As an adult I’ve maintained my love of top quality stationery and the Dodo Pad range is ideally placed to help me with my obsession. My only concern with the Dodo Pad range is the effect that letting go of all these truly wonderful items must have on Lord Dodo himself. Surely it must be a wrench, waving the sparkly black graphite Swarovski pencils off? And the Swarovski crystal topped pens? I’m not sure I could be so brave. Fortunately for Dodo Pad customers, Lord Dodo is less of a stationery hoarder than I am which makes it a lot easier to process orders that are due to go out for delivery. (They do look nice en masse though don’t they?!)

A sneaky peek into Lord Dodo’s crystal-topped treasure trove of writing instruments.

Clearly if you are reading this blog you have already found the Dodo Pad range and it is fair to assume that you have some higher level of regard for stationery items… so today’s question has to be, what stationery item can you simply not do without? Are you a paper hound, do you have secret drawers full of different sizes colours of paper? Do pencils tickle your fancy? Are you a pen person or perhaps you have other stationery needs?

Myself, I have to admit to many stationery needs. A few years ago my husband, with a wide grin on his face, presented me with a huge box on Christmas morning. Inside it I found file dividers, a filing tray, pens, pencils, paper, a new desk calculator, the whole works. It is safe to say that many brownie points were earned that day!

So tell me, what is your “must-have” or “best-loved” stationery drawer item? Or can you even distinguish the prime candidate?
